Wheel House plays a dirty concoction of rock, blues, and funk, harkening back to the vintage sound of the 60s and 70s. Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, the band regularly plays as a foursome, with powerhouse vocalist and bandleader Mandy Burke, guitarist Garrett Calcaterra, drummer Jeremy Quinn, and bassist Tony Ng. Founding member and lead vocalist Pete Vander Pluym also joins the band from his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri for select shows.

RELEASES

"When It All Goes Down" was released as a single on November 5, 2021. Written during the pandemic, it’s an in-your-face blues-rocker that rails against the willful lack of empathy exhibited by so many.

Wheel House’s last full album, Filthy, was released in 2017, expanding upon the gritty sound from their debut EP, People That We Used to Be. Highlights include the single “You Had it Coming,” with its Motown-style falsetto vocals and indy-rock instrumentation; “Hey You,” a dirty, funky ode to one-night-stands; and “Crooked,” a filthy rocker straight out of the 70s.

HISTORY

Wheel House began playing in 2010 in Orange, California, with founding members Mandy Burke (vocals, keys, guitar, percussion), Pete Vander Pluym (vocals, drums, bass, keys), Garrett Calcaterra (guitar, bass), and Eric Tryon (bass, drums). They chose the name Wheel House because they regularly switched instruments from song to song.

In 2015, the majority of the band relocated to the Bay Area. In 2017, Jeremy Quinn (drums, bass, guitar) joined the lineup to round out their sound and provide more versatility to their rotations. In 2022, Tony Ng (bass, drums, guitar) joined the band, adding another level of musicianship with decades of experience honed playing in Bay Area blues and R&B bands.
